What is nattokinase? The role of nattokinase

Natto kinase, also known as subtilis protease, takes natto powder as raw material and Natto bacteria as starter culture to extract a serine protease produced by

 subtilis natto in the fermentation process, which is the core essence ingredient of natto's action on human health.

Nattokinase is able to break down fibrin and reduce platelet aggregation, thereby improving blood flow and helping to improve blood circulation. 

It has an antithrombotic effect and can reduce the risk of thrombosis.


Nattokinase increases blood flow

Summi et al. (1980) showed that daily consumption of natto can improve blood flow, especially in the elderly and those with chronic diseases.

Nattokinase unclogs blocked blood vessels

In animal experiments, after 5 hours of consumption of nattokinase, thrombosis in the lower extremity of the dogs induced by thrombosis was obviously cleared and the

 blood could flow again. Injecting 80mg/kg nattokinase into duodenum of rats can effectively degrade fibrinogen in plasma.

Nattokinase improves high blood pressure

Animal experiments have shown that regular feeding of natto can maintain normal blood pressure in mice, but feeding soy can steadily increase blood pressure. Human studies

have also shown that natto kinase and vasoconstrictin inhibitors (ACEI) in natto can improve hypertension by reducing blood embolism and blood concentration.

Nattokinase can break down blood clots in humans

Human trial results show that consumption of nattokinase can significantly reduce the thrombolysis time and increase the thrombolysis volume. The results also pointed out that 

the thrombolysis effect after consumption of nattokinase could reach 2-8 hours, which was significantly longer than other clinical drugs.
